The Work of the Angels

so the the work of the Angels is our topic for this evening so we're going to cover you know the work of the angels and the life of the Patriarchs right did they know that the Angels were working in their lives

uh in the life of Jesus of course and the in the overall workings of the uh divine plan and how the Angels might be working in our lives and you know we're gonna get some insight

um from the angels as we look at the work of the Angels just take note that we're getting a inside look at what our role will be during the kingdom age so that should be quite exciting for us so

we'll start with the angels well of course they were there right from the beginning right at the Creed of I read at the creation and they were part of the process

by the word of the Lord where the heavens made and all the hosts of them by the breath of his mouth for he spoke it and it was done he commanded and it stood fast bless the Lord his angels that execute in strength that do his Commandments hearkening unto the voice of his command he Ministers of his that do his pleasure right that's what the Angels do they do the pleasure of God they they perform his will they attend to his Commandments we're not going to get into the whole Fallen Angel thing but obviously that is a false teaching so they're they're writing the in the beginning and they're there right at the end of this age when Christ shall come he says he shall send his angels with a great sound and of a trumpet and they shall gather together his elect from the Four Winds right they'll be part of the Resurrection they'll be gathering those that will be raised they'll be gathering those that are still alive and in and all in between they've been very active they're not just standing around doing nothing they're very active in the whole fine plan operation so a few other things that we know about

the Angels is that well they serve God they communicate his messages carry out his judgments they deliver his people they direct the movement of the Nations and they have great interest in involvement in the divine plan

and we know that um it will be Christ in the Saints that will subdue and heal the Nations during the kingdom age the writer in Hebrew says For unto the Angels hath he not put in subjection the age to come so it will be we've got a great future ahead of us and and the things that we'll be doing we will take a heavy role we will take on the role of the Angels what they're doing today so just a few uh passages that um of established this behold the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his Saints to execute judgment upon all the kingdom of dominion and the greatness of the Kingdom Under the whole Heaven shall be given to the people of the Saints of the most high whose kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom and the psalmist writes let the Saints be joyful in glory let them sing aloud upon their beds but the high praises of God be in their mouth and a two-edged sword in their hand to execute vengeance upon the Nations this honor have all the saints so these are the Saints these are those who are Sanctified those who are set apart called out that's us and this this is the things that we're going to be doing

um in the Kingdom age to establish that Kingdom uh with Christ that is uh our honor

so of course uh you know Jesus sent his Angel to John to tell him about those things that uh surely to come and it says and I John saw these things and I heard them and when I heard them I fell down and worshiped the feet of the Angel which showed me these things then saithion to me see thou do it not for I am thy fellow servant right the Angels uh servants as we are right of course they've got the benefit they have been freed from the carnal mind right like we have uh they are of course Immortal they only do the will of God we try to do the will of God and sometimes we do and sometimes we fail

however that day will come to an end one day Jesus says the sons of this age marry and not giving him marriage but those who accounted worthy to attain that age that's the kingdom age and the resurrection from the dead well they need to marry nor are given in marriage nor can they die anymore

for they are equal to the angels and our sons of God being sons of the Resurrection right so we we are training now uh to join the angels to be like the Angels when we will be free of this fleshly nature that we have and we will be granted immortality and will be able to worship and serve uh Creator and a king completely and perfectly

um

so again a great day to look forward to

and uh this is a quote from Brother Thomas in Elvis Israel I think it um I think it really sums this up really well since you know this is the perfecting of the sons of God

says behold

behold them the consummation mortal and corruptable beings like ourselves become Elohim Mighty in strength and framers of the new world

behold says Jesus once an infant at the breast powerless in death but now endued with all power I make all things new he will induce from the things which exist a new and magnificent world as a fit in appropriate habitation for his companions Redeemed by his blood for the sons of men This Is the destiny set before those who shall become equal unto the Angels by the resurrection of eternal life so these these you know he really I think sums us up well right we're going to be framers of the new world just as the Angels were there in the in the beginning in creation right and and you know framing that new creation well there's a new world to come Jesus says I make all things new

and we're going to have a big role in that right for we are his companions redeemed from the son of man to become the sons of God and we will be equal unto the Angels you know of course uh you know no more Throne to sin only to do the will of God and mighty in strength shall we be

so again a great uh time for us to look forward to

now the Angels um you know they didn't know everything right we kind of think maybe they did but but but they didn't know everything they knew right they desired I think that's in quote from Peter he says you know they desire the Angels desired to look into these things to the things of God to the things he would do

with the seed of the woman they knew there was one they knew that this there would be this very special son born one day but they didn't know when

so it says here and in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God right so God would call Gabriel and he'd say Gabriel you know that young woman that I've had to keep an eye on Mary I want you to deliver her this message he tells him this message right then Gabriel goes and he gets to deliver this wonderful message and behold thou shall conceive in thy womb bring forth a son and shall call his name Jesus he shall be great she'll be called the son of the highest and the Lord God shall give unto him the Throne of his father David and he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever and of his kingdom there shall be no end so he gets to deliver this wonderful message and how excited he would have been Now's the Time We I finally here he is and then and then it goes on with he makes this announcement right the angel they come upon these um Shepherds right the angel comes to them and says fear not for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people for unto you is born this day a savior and that says and suddenly there was a with the angel a multitude of heavenly hosts praising God and saying glory to God in the highest and on Earth peace Good Will toward men right they were excited the angels are excited finally the one we've been waiting for all these years he's been born and boy are the people gonna they oh they have no idea how great this is he's the Savior right so we're going to be delivering good news right I mean we like to deliver good news right all you uh mothers out there who became pregnant right right yeah you were excited to tell your husbands to tell your family of this great news right it's exciting and of course we have a great news to share today and that's our job today to spread the hope to be prepared to give an answer

and sometimes it's difficult because

we the response isn't so great

um seems like maybe no one cares and we get a little disappointed and maybe it holds us back from doing it more than we should however

you're in the Kingdom age after

Armageddon in those events mankind will be brought to his knees they have trusted a man they've trusted in themselves and it's been a disaster they're going to feel helpless hopeless

and they're going to be desperate and they're going to be prepared to hear the wonderful message

the good news that we're going to bring they'll take any good news all they've been getting is bad news the time of trouble such as never was all they've been getting is bad news everything they thought would work hasn't worked and here we come have you heard of Jesus right and all the wonderful things that we'll be doing for them so there will come a time when the people will be prepared to hear the wonderful message that will be able to deliver so if you by the way I don't know how long this class is maybe 30 minutes 40 minutes I'm not sure well so we'll have time to um you can put in any thoughts you've got but if you want to interrupt me at any time feel free

so this is one of those Messianic Psalms

um of Jesus so if he says for he shall give his angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways they shall bear thee up in their hands lest thou Dash thy feet against a stone right so this is of course God saying his angels there's my son take care of him right they would know this hey this is that this is the seed of the woman as soon as Gabriel would have delivered that message to Mary Boom the Angels would have been around Mary and Joseph we've got to protect her as soon as Jesus was born the Angels were there protecting

that he wouldn't even Dash his foot

they knew that that was their responsibility

and then in the Temptation when the devil left him you know the angels are waiting they're there waiting for the temptation to be over and behold the Angels Came and ministered

unto him they took care of him and That's What Angels do right writer of the Hebrews tells us are they not all ministering Spirits speaking of the Angels

sent forth to minister for them who shall be Heirs of salvation

and the psalmist writes

the angel of the Lord and campeth about those who fear Him and delivereth them

so this is where people get the idea that we all have God in angels

and I believe that we do I believe that we uh ain't an angel or several angels are assigned to us but not to everyone it tells us right in these passages they minister to The Heirs of salvation

that's us with it we're The Heirs of the promises

to those who fear Him

those who Marvel at his works

those who are at awe with his word

that's us it's not everyone so I I do believe that we have an angel said to us to minister to us to care for us

and yet there's also time and chance that happens to all

so I remember one time when I was living in the city and uh Tammy and I were taking a ride I don't even know where we're going but I wanted to get on the road because it was a bit of a ride and I ended up taking a wrong turn and I haven't gone why did I take that turn I what was it what was I thinking and it set me back like 15 minutes and I got back on the road now we hit a lot of traffic and there was a big accident was the cause of the traffic and as we finally passed this three four cow pile up I thought wow

what if I hadn't taken that turn like I I might have been in that accident

and sometimes we have these types of events in our lives that we can look back and go geez I wonder and maybe it was and and maybe it wasn't

and then there are other times I remember

um meeting a guy at the Bible school when I was down in Connecticut he was a bit of an older guy it came into the truth just a few years prior I I don't even know his name and I've never seen him since

and I asked him you know how did you come into the truth and he said well you know I like to read my Bible and I went to the local churches and um you know what they were saying wasn't jiving with what I was reading he goes so I prayed one night that

I would find my brethren

next day he got his newspaper and he was reading through the newspaper and he came across an ad on how to read your Bible effectively given by the christadelphians brethren in Christ

and he said well that is an obvious sign and went and of course yep that's what I believe and he was baptized so in a situation like that

yeah the Guardian Angels were working the angels are working in that situation my situation maybe maybe not will I ever know yeah I think so I think one day we will know when that angel comes as the Lord said I will send my angels forth to gather the elect

and that angel will know all about us

and they'll probably tell us things like let me show you let me show you a vision this is how often we were in your life

and they'll say remember this what were you thinking okay good thing I was there and we'll be amazed at how often they were in our lives and they were guiding things

which were you going to uh jump to uh ax and and talk about Peter's angel no

could it could I uh just share hear that then yeah absolutely to this idea yeah so you remember that uh Acts chapter 12 is this account of Peter being in prison and uh you know all the brothers and sisters are praying for him for his Deliverance and it's the story of uh Peter sort of you know being released from the prison and and he goes and he finds his Brethren and uh I'll just read from Acts chapter 12. um of

on the night before Herod was to bring him to trial Peter was sleeping Between Two Soldiers bound with two chains with entry standing guard at the entrance to the prison uh acts 12 verse 7 says suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared at the as the light Shone in the sweat cell he tapped Peter on the side and woke him up saying get up quickly and the chains fell off his wrist right so this is the this is sort of the the lead into this so Peter then shows up at the house where everybody's praying and we're in verse uh 11 um verse 12. um

he went to the house of Mary the mother of John also called Mark where many people had gathered together and with praying he knocked at the outer gate and a servant girl named Rhoda came to answer it and when she recognized Peter's voice she was so Overjoyed that she forgot to open the gate and she ran inside and said Peter is standing at the gate you're out of your mind they told her in verse 15 but when she kept insisting it was so they said

it must be his angel and so Butch I think this is an example and you know a passage from the scripture where you know another passage from the scripture where where people come to that same conclusion that you described earlier about you know the quote-unquote guardian angel that we might each have angels that that watch over us yeah and so and obviously um the deci uh you know the people uh in that first generation uh they believe that

right you know that that hey yeah of course there's Angels right and yeah they do work in our lives

um oh uh John yeah

so do you think that uh that angel that appeared at that time would that be a Heavenly angel or would that be a mortal man as a messenger behold Messengers at the door I can't be handled it must be one of his Messengers

um

um yeah probably Heavenly I would think that's probably more likely I mean an angel can be mortal or Immortal right yeah

I would think in that case probably yeah so you're thinking what Bob you're thinking that they that the they were thinking it was a a mortal Angel a human Angel a human messenger yeah I think he just said about Peter couldn't be there he's in jail so it must be somebody who sent us a messenger to deliver a message but turned out it was actually Peter himself and and and not necessarily that they were thinking it was a a Heavenly angel I I don't think so Steve okay interesting

maybe yeah so we'll see plenty of um plenty of examples so you know and you know so do they work in our lives yes but there's also the time and chance so just because you get a flat tire on the side of the road doesn't mean oh this must be an angel trying to tell me something uh so and everyone's got these type of examples in their lives you know you hear them many with like how did you come into the truth right it's not by accident Brother Richard Lee I think is on tonight and uh you know he he she has a story that she had several times with us uh when he was teaching brother Phil has it and um Richard prayed and uh said I know he's gonna ask me something about the devil so he was all prepared and Phil walked in and said I gotta ask you a question what about the devil and there was Richard prepared look it I've already got it open I'm ready

the question about the Fallen Angel Butch the Fallen Angel there we go yeah Lucifer right I open right up and there it is right yeah so uh for sure the angels are working in those areas and we'll touch upon that a little bit more too

but how many angels are there well there's a lot right Jesus said that you know when Peter pulls his sword he says listen don't you know I can call upon my father and I can call 12 Legions of angels some say that's above 72 000 angels and that was their job they weren't going to leave Jesus aside and he knew it he knew they were there

um in Revelations it says that the you know the angels of many that Ten Thousand Times Ten Thousand of thousands and thousands and you know that's probably a symbolic number and it just means they're innumerable there are a lot of them so certainly we could all have our own Angel looking after us while other Angels had taken uh to the Affairs of the Nations and other peoples and things of that nature so there are many many many angels

um at work

so we'll take a look at Abraham of course there's as many examples we could look at with Abraham

um of course the angel that stays his arm from sacrificing Isaac

um you know another thing to think about when maybe you don't think about with that sacrifice of course he's right there right he's already at the top of the mountain when uh Abraham comes with his son and he's either got another angel with him or he's already placed

the actual sacrifice the ram caught in the thicket right how did you think that was a coincidence that that got there no that's the work of the Angels make sure that that Ram is there that particular time but this is one I want to uh use uh it's Abraham finding a wife for Isaac right so he he calls his uh servant of his house so I believe it to be probably elieza he says you know do not let my son uh get a wife from the Canaanites

um and he goes go back to my homeland and get him away from there and the eliasa says well what if you know what if she won't come and then he says this he says the Lord God Of Heaven who took me from my father's house

from the land of my Kindred who spoke unto me and who swore into me saying unto thy seed will I give this land he shall send his Angel before thee and thou shalt take a wife unto my son from there I mean Abraham he's very old at this point he's coming near the end of his days but God has worked in his life and there's no passage that says and God said to me he will send an angel before go find a wife for Isaac but Abraham knows hey this is part of the promises when I'm doing the will of God will be active the angels will be active and this will come true

so uh Elias uh goes and

he gets there in the office the prayer right that we're familiar with you know if you know so so I know this woman when they come out for water I'll say to her

um you know can I have some water and if she gives me water and then says and I'll give some to your camels well then Lord then I will know that she is the one and then in verse 15 it says and before he finished speaking behold Rebecca came out and of course all that happened

um so do you think you know the angels went up before right the timing was perfect right he gets the office this prayer before he's done this Rebecca comes over and does you know what were the Angels doing was there an angel you know making sure Rebecca's out there on time making sure everything goes well according to plan working behind the scenes

and again Abraham he's quite confident as we are in those promises and these are the promises we're going to be able to deliver to the people uh you know uh after after Armageddon who are desperate to hear the good words that we're going to be able to deliver to them oh Jesus

uh the other one is David uh let me read some passages here in David of course it's a familiar one if you want you can turn to First Samuel 17. I'm just going to read a few passages

first Samuel 17 verse 10 and 11 it says in the Philistine said I defy the armies of Israel this day give me a man and we may fight together when Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine they were just made and greatly afraid they should have been afraid because they you know Goliath was this great warrior he was a champion and he is called Goliath is calling out Saul who should have went out to fight him and the Army like hey you don't have a man amongst that army that can come take me on and then David you know David comes upon the way he's going to come visit his Brethren and in verse 26. uh David says you know for who is this uncircumcised Philistine that should defy the armies of the Living God

right that's the angels

then you know David knew that this battle was not going to be you know him versus Goliath this guy's defying the Angels doesn't he know the angels will destroy him and then he comes in verse 34. and David said unto Saul thy servant has kept his father's sheep there came a lion and a bear and took a lamb out of the flock

I went down after him and smote him and delivered it out of his mouth then he arose against me and I caught him by his beard smote him and slew him thy servant slew both The Lion and the bear and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them seeing that he is defy the armies of the Living Lord of the Living God David said moreover the Lord who delivered me out of the power of the lion and out of the power of the bear he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine so David was quite confident that it would be God's Victory and when he tells them don't be afraid he's quoting from Deuteronomy and that is the

um the law of warfare where God says hero Israel he approached this day unto battle against your enemies let not your hearts faint

Finn are do not tremble neither be terrified because of them for the Lord your God is he who goeth with you to fight for you against your enemies to save you and David David knew this but you know sometimes and maybe this was happening with Israel at the time so you know God helped us

um you know back in The Exodus right he freed us from the from the Egyptians and and then you know in the future he's gonna send the Messiah

but you know in between I don't know maybe he's silent right so so we shouldn't take on that type of thought either as far as the Angels working with us yeah they they go you know we know we're all here by grace and mercy in in works of the Angel Andes one day Christ will come but he's still working in us all in between just as God was using his angels with Israel and working in their lives then David says

in verse 45 he says then said David to the Philistine thou cometh to me with a sword a spear and with a shield but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts right the Lord of hosts the armies of God the angels in verse 46 and this day the Lord will deliver thee into my hand now David may have been good with a slingshot

but there's no doubt and David knew it that it was that stone was Guided by the Angels

now this is uh this is this is an interesting one

all right we know God rules in the kingdoms of men he removes Kings he sets up Kings and at this time here he wants to remove

uh Ahab he's the king of Israel and he says yeah his time has come so kind of leading up to this uh Ahab decides he wants to go against Ray math Gilead and he calls on uh king of Judah I believe it was uh Jehoshaphat and he says hey let's uh will you come with me and he says well okay let's uh why don't we see what the prophets have to say he says okay so he calls the prophets and the prophets say yeah go yeah definitely you've got Victory but of course the prophets that Ahab called were

um his wife's prophets Jezebel's Prophets and then

the king of Judas is I don't think really any prophets to go out here well there is there's this one but he never says anything good about me well let's see what he says and so then the prophet of God comes and kind of paints this little picture for him he gives this little vision that he had he says here thou therefore the word of the Lord I saw the wood sitting on his throne and all the hosts of Heaven standing by That's What Angels do standing by right remember their fellow servants right we'd like to be always standing by at the ready to serve sometimes we uh sometimes we know but the angels are always ready by him on his right and on his left hand and the Lord said who shall be persuade Ahab that he might go up and fall at Ramos Gilead

and one said on this manner and another said on that manner and they came forth a spirit and stood before the Lord and said I will persuade him and Lord said unto him by what means and he said I will go forth and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of All His prophets

and he said Thou shalt persuade him and Prevail also go forth and do so

so I think it gives us a little bit of a look at how it will work for us in our role in the Kingdom age right we're not going to be robots

we're going to be given the skill set and the means to be able to accomplish yes so here goes he's asking his angels what do you think this is what we need to accomplish how do you want to go about it one says one thing one says another and then they decide yeah this one's good in fact there's going to be like committees hey right remember the world's going to be in chaos okay listen we got a problem Jesus is going to direct us we need 50 you uh Saints to go down to this Village there's 500 people there they need a lot of help go down right angels will go down assess the situation hey we need shelter we need food we need this and that we need to tell them what's going on right and divide up the work right there'll be this you know committees so to speak you know we don't know exactly how it's going to be but we're given some Freedom we're already given the skill set now go and do it remember this is going to be very pleasurable work that we have

the other thing that was kind of funny is I remember reading that going well really the angel lies right he puts a lying spirit in the mouth of the prophets but again remember these are false prophets these are Jezebel's prophets and they are liars they do lie right and they want to believe the lie and if you want to believe the lie well go right ahead right so I think that kind of goes along with with the whole false prophets anyway but you know and another thing with um know another example we could look at that that's the way we might deal with the Nations hey this nation won't submit go and talk to their leaders okay they won't listen remove the leaders talk to the people we have um you know remember when Daniel he's praying he's in captivity he's praying he's praying and finally Gabriel comes

and Gable says she's sorry Daniel I heard your prayer but the the King of Persia was you know preventing me from coming I was working and working he couldn't get them to do what I wanted to do and then Michael the Archangel came and he took care of it right so we're going to be working and working together

um in this we're not just gonna be robots right we're going to have this pleasurable work to do uh and a lot of it I think that gives us a little insight perhaps into how things might be might be done

of course the uh Angels heavily involved

with the resurrection right and again they're going to be delivering good news right remember how distraught the disciples were when Jesus died I mean Peter right he just goes back to his old life and and yet here the Angels ah right and the two Mary's come and they're like check it out he's been raised he's gone he's not in here anymore go tell everyone and of course when Jesus ascends there's the two angels why do you look like this don't you know he's coming back right and of course the Angels would be heavily involved in that work

and again just a little bit more on the you know the Angels uh working in our lives right so of course they are because you know Jesus says like I say unto you there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repents and this is from the parable of the lost coin right one who was lost and then found right the Angels rejoice when we have a baptism

they rejoice when someone leaves then comes back

of course I think they would also sorrow as we do when when someone Falls away

and you know you know we do so because we feel like man maybe there's not much we can do about it yeah we reach out we set a card we try to talk to them but you know maybe they're going through something and maybe they don't want to hear it but the one thing we can do and that we do do is pray that the angels will work in that individual's life to bring them back to the fold

and this is another thing the Angels do it says and it came to pass when I Daniel had seen the vision and sought for the meaning then behold this stood before me one having the appearance of a man and I Heard a Voice who called and said Gabriel make this man to understand the vision

for those who are seeking to know the truth the angels can work they'll work they'll respond to someone who wants to understand

and they'll find a way to make that person understand I can tell you anyone who has put together any type of a Bible class that's what you do right you pray for understanding you pray for guidance and um in that see if the the Angels work in our lives when

we are performing the will of God

if we're not working if we are idle then there's not there's not anything for the angels to do

so yeah they're they're working you know that no one goes away to one of those um you know goes out into the mission fields

um as far as I know and comes back and says well that was a waste of time yeah usually they come back with great excitement and say yeah people receive the message you know so when we're working

um

in the things of the truth then the angels are able to work with us

and we see that you know of course the Angels who are supporting the uh the preaching efforts right Christ was not going to die in vain so of course there was going to be heavy Angel involvement helping the apostles and of course the story of Philip and the eunuch right an angel of the Lord spoken to Philip saying arise and go towards the Thousand so towards the South and he arose and went and behold a eunuch of Ethiopia and he came to Worship in Jerusalem sitting in his Chariot reading Isaiah in the spirit said unto Philip Gautier and joined thyself to this Chariot and he ran over says you know do you understand what you're reading and he says no and of course he explains it all to him and again you know many who have uh come from the outside has been that someone right there's been this sort of connection somehow you ran into this one and you know there were some great there's some great stories out there from brothers and sisters I've heard through the years and there's no doubt

um guided by the Angels right and Paul knew God was helping him right he says he goes up and they preach the good news in the city and won a large number of disciples and when they returned they strengthened strengthened on the disciples and encouraged them to remain in the faith and when they had come and gathered the church together they reported all that God had done with them that he had opened the door of Faith to the Gentiles it's exciting when you get someone who's got some interest and you can teach them well these guys they were out there in the beginning preaching in and the response was great

because God was helping Paul he knew it with

um and of course God protects his people we're running out of time we know this right but you know you might say hey that's Daniel of course God is gonna send his angels to protect Daniel but you don't know that he hasn't done it in our lives I think one day we will find out when that angel comes but we can't be for certain that that's never happened in our lives

and that the mighty Angels deliver the Judgment of God right then the angel of the Lord went out and struck down 185 000 men in one night one angel they're pretty mighty

and that's what they do they they described in the Psalms as a destroying Angels God unleashes his Fury and wrath by the destroying angels

angels can save and destroy

this is a time when Israel was completely lost

and given over to idolatry right they're going to be Go off into Babylon and uh Ezekiel writes you know God says to the angels go through the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the forehead to those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that I've done in it here they are saving right Mark out the remnant

save them because for the rest of them go after him through the city and smite let not your eyes spear neither have pity and they destroy the Wicked the idolaters but save the remnant

and the angels both gather and remove all right of course he as we've already read he sends they gather the elect and then the wheat and the tears the son of man will send his angels and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and wall breakers and throw them into the fiery furnace gathers the Saints and removes

the wicked amongst the Saints
