DEVELOPING A BIBLICAL WORLD VIEW
BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS (12–14 APRIL 2024)
Stephen Snobelen, Halifax, Nova Scotia
In an age that is becoming increasingly “post-biblical”, believers can rely less and less on a default biblical world view in western society (a world view that was never fully biblical to begin with). For more experienced believers and especially for those who are young or young in the faith, it is increasingly imperative to develop a thoroughly biblical world view and to have clarity on what is and what is not biblical.
A biblical world view is holistic understanding of the physical world, human nature, ideas and ethics. It is founded on belief in a personal and loving God who created all things, gave us moral laws, a sense of truth and justice and established a purpose for the earth and for us. A biblical world view serves as a moral compass, helps us to understand the world as it really is and allows us to be children of light in an age of darkness. Above all, it is a way of life and the way to life.
These talks will begin with an explanation about what a world view is; provide an outline of non-biblical world views; set out the features of the biblical world view; and demonstrate that the mainstream Christian world view has never been completely biblical. The five core themes of this series are God, Creation, Justice, Peace and Love.
