My Robin – Judi Salamone

Today I saw a robin as he hopped across my lawn.
Out there so busily working, it was barely turning dawn.
My heart leaped deep inside me, I knew what this surely meant.
The dark, dank days of winter had all been finally spent.
The best lay all before me and my soul began to sing.
I’d been reborn once again, I was granted another spring!
Its presence didn’t fail me for he’s always been my sign,
To keep my eyes wide open and absorb this gift of mine.
The yellow forsythias embraced dancing daffodils.
And shades of pinks and purples were splashed all over the hills.
Vibrantly colored tulips nodded as l passed them by,
And hovering over all was a marvelous blue sky.
The fuzzy pussy willows just beckoned to be taken.
So, l obliged them gladly. I love when they awaken.
The birds were flying very low, tending to their tasks at hand.
Their songs stirred deep emotion as they echoed o’er the land.
Tears began to sting my eyes while beholding such a scene,
Then, to complete this picture, God painted the grass so green.
My senses are satisfied, my heart won’t stop its throbbing.
Praise and glory to my LORD for sending me this robin.
